After my fabulous (crunchy crackling) roast pork and all the trimmings at Ruiʼs Carvery, I enter into the world fabulous den that is Ruiʼs karaoke bar. Pinela greets me with a huge smile and a “what can i get for you lovely lady” (my night is made already.) Having half a glass of wine too much at dinner I opt for a diet coke. As I look around the dimly lit bar, half the TVʼs are showing the sport, the other half have “come join in the karaoke”, and do you know what, Iʼm tempted!! The location is right on the fabulous Vilamoura Marina, close to the Tivoli Hotel. If billion pound views are your thing, then this is THE location to be, from small sleek racing yachts to giant gin palaces abound. I am here early evening, my favourite time of day as the sun is setting. Already the sky is taking on a fabulous crimson hue. Families, couples, golfers, and expatriates that have finished work are coming into the bar and the restaurant at the 19th Hole. In amongst their merriment, they watch the day turn to night, as do I. As a single diner, I do not feel lonely. Hollie, the totally barmy Vasco, and Maria (Vascoʼs mum) take turns in keeping me company and regaling tales and ditties of what has happened since I last...
