Whats happening in the Algarve?

The location is right on the fabulous Vilamoura Marina, close to the Tivoli Hotel. If billion pound views are your thing, then this is THE location to be, from small sleek racing yachts to giant gin palaces abound. I am here early evening, my favourite time of day as the sun is setting. Already the sky is taking on a fabulous crimson hue. Families, couples, golfers, and expatriates that have finished work are coming into the bar and the restaurant at the 19th Hole. In amongst their merriment, they watch the day turn to night, as do I. • Thanks for sharing your thoughts Corilynn! In the summer of 2008, I went to Venice, Italy to study art, literature, and film. From that moment on I seem to have contracted what can only be known as wanderlust. Since my return home, I have been plotting out my next trip and trying to figure out how I can possibly make it happen. I want to return to Europe, but as much as I really fell in love with Italy, I think the next destination on the list is going to have to be Spain. I didn’t get a chance to see Spain at all while I was overseas, but from what I hear it is the perfect combination of everything I could want— metropolitan cities, beautiful architecture, rich history, Mediterranean climate and beaches, and a strong cultural identity. Really, what else might one look for in a place they plan...

  •   In tough economic times, the holiday market needs to keep an unwavering eye on price, and no region has achieved this more successfully than Portugal’s Algarve. In fact, despite the area’s enduring popularity, prices are consistently lower than those in the UK and other parts of Europe. This southernly region of Portugal has been in vogue with Brits since the seventies. They particularly appreciate the constant sunshine and the sandy beaches. Furthermore, and contrary to less popular Portuguese regions, the Algarve has adapted to the massive amount of foreign tourists visiting every year and nowadays English is spoken in most places. Whereas rental prices in the UK and other parts of Europe are often very high, the Algarve remains affordable. The region vies with its pricier counterparts for the custom of the young and budget conscious, drawn by a vibrant nightlife. Albufeira offers a range of accommodation within easy...

  • Maria’s Beach This beach is literally on Dunas Dourada’s door step. If you are staying in Dunas Douradas Beach Club then it is no more than a 10 minute walk. Very convenient. You can rent sun loungers and umbrella’s if you need them, and there is a beach bar which is called “Maria’s” which is excellent for snack’s and refreshments. If you are staying in the surrounding areas of Dunas Douradas then there is a free car park that is literally a 2 minute walk from the Atlantic Ocean. It doesn’t get too crowded, although July and August are certainly the most popular and busy months of the season.
